According to Diocesan guidelines, students must complete two consecutive years of Religious Education prior to entering into the Confirmation Program.  Here at Santa Cruz, 9th grade is Confirmation Year I (CYI), and 10th grade is Confirmation Year II (CYII).  In implementing requirements and guidelines, our goal is to assist the student in better preparing for and gaining a fuller understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation. 

• Students are expected to attend a class every week. Students who miss 3 or more classes and do not participate in make-up classes, will be asked to repeat the year. It is the parent's responsibility to communicate with the RE Office ([email protected]) when an absence occurs.
• Students are expected to attend Mass every weekend with their families.  Participation in Mass is part of the student's faith formation.
• Students are encouraged to participate in all parish youth events. 
• Students are encouraged to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least twice a year.

De acuerdo con las directivas de la diócesis, estudiantes deben completar dos años consecutivos de Educación Religiosa antes de entrar en el Programa de Confirmación. Aquí en Santa Cruz, el 9º grado es el Año de Confirmación I (CYI), y el 10º grado es el Año de Confirmación II (CYII). En implementación de los requisitos y directrices, nuestro objetivo es ayudar al estudiante en preparase mejor y obteniendo una comprensión más completa del Sacramento de la Confirmación.

• Se espera que los estudiantes asistan a clases todas las semanas. Los estudiantes que faltan 3 o más clases y no recuperan el trabajo de clase se les pedirá repetir el año. Es responsabilidad de los padres comunicarse con la Oficina de RE ([email protected]) cuando ocurre una ausencia. 
• Los estudiantes deben asistir a misa cada fin de semana con su familia.  Participación en la misa es parte de la formación de la fe del estudiante.
• Se anima a los estudiantes a participar en todos los eventos juveniles de la parroquia.
• Se anima a los estudiantes celebrar el Sacramento de la Reconciliación a las menos dos veces al año.

CONFIRMATION - YEAR TWO GUIDELINES

According to Diocesan guidelines, students must complete two consecutive years of Religious Education prior to entering the Confirmation Program. Your child is registered for his/her second year of confirmation. In implementing requirements and guidelines, our goal is to assist the candidate in better preparing for and gaining a fuller understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

• Candidates must turn in a copy of their Baptismal & First Communion Certificate to the RE Office by Sunday, October 15^th.  If your child is not baptized, we will need the Birth Certificate.

• Candidates are expected to attend class every week. Students who miss 3 consecutive classes will be dropped from the roster. It is the parents’ responsibility to communicate with the RE Office when an absence occurs. No more than 3-absences for the year to celebrate confirmation. Please get with the teacher for any makeup work.
  • Excused absences: illness, quarantine, and death in the family.
  • Unexcused absences: Sports activities, school activities, birthday parties, etc…
  • Tardies: 1-14 minutes late (3-tardies=absence) – after15 minutes is Unexcused absence

• Candidates are expected to attend Mass every weekend with their families. Participation in Mass is part of the student's faith formation.
• Candidates will attend a Confirmation Retreat on Ocotber 28th - October 29th at TbarM

• Candidates are encouraged to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least twice a year. (Lent & Advent)
• Candidates will write a letter to Father Jesse expressing their desire to be confirmed. A guide to assist you in writing your letter will be provided.  DUE DATE: During your class on the week of December 10, 2023.
• Candidates will select a sponsor that meets the criteria set by the Diocese of Austin. (See sponsor requirements on the Diocesan Sponsor Covenant). DUE DATE: During your class on the week of December 10, 2023.
  • Candidate and Sponsor must attend the workshop together on February 17, 2024
• Candidates will select a Saint Name for their Confirmation. DUE DATE: During your class on the week of December 10, 2023.
• Candidates are encouraged to participate in parish youth events. (DCYC, February 2-4, 2024)
• Participate in a Confirmation Interview in February-March 
• Students must attend 1 confirmation workshop in addition to the confirmation retreat
