Can I register my older child to attend religious education at the same time as my younger child?
No. The only option for middle school and high school students is Sunday afternoons as listed.
When can my child get their sacrament of confirmation if they also need communion?
Bishop Vasquez implemented a new code of particular law in December of 2023 and the sacrament of communion and confirmation will no longer be combined. Confirmation formation will start in high school and it is a 2 year program.
What certificates are needed when preparing for a sacrament?
If your child is getting baptized, we need a copy of their birth certificate.
If your child is preparing for 1st communion, we will need a copy of their baptism certificate.
If your child is preparing for confirmation, we will need a copy of their baptism and 1st communion certificates.
If my child was baptized at Santa Cruz do I need to submit the baptism certificate?
No, if they were baptized at Santa Cruz, we have it on file. The same for 1st communion certificates.
*note that when certificates are issued once they complete their sacrament, the names are spelled exactly as they are listed on the baptism certificate. If there is an error on the baptism or birth certificate, that needs to get corrected with them before we can make any corrections.
Can I fill out the registration in person?
Registration is online only until August 11th and August 25th where we will hold in person registration in the morning. Keep in mind that spots are limited according to availability, so the sooner you register the better chance of having a spot available for your child.
Do I need to be a registered parishioner of Santa Cruz to register my child for religious education?
Yes.
If you are registered at another parish, you will need to contact that parish you are registered at and have them transfer your account to Santa Cruz. Then you will need to complete a new parishioner form that can be found in the parish office or online.
If I am coming from another parish, will my child have a spot to register?
Santa Cruz parishioners get priority over other parishes. It is preferred that your child register at their home parish. If you need further information on this, please contact Mr. Diaz in the church office.
What is YDisciple?
YDisciple is for those students who have already been confirmed and are in grades 10th-12th. This class is set for them to dive deeper into their faith and ask questions freely and openly amongst their peers.
When will I get information on my child's teacher/class and calendar for the year?
Once you have registered, you should recieve a confirmation email.
By the end of the the 1st week of September, you will receive an email with all that information at the email you registered with.
